Photography is a beautiful art
form which reflects the perspective of the person looking through
the lens at a moment in time.
It allows others to share a unique composition and experience what
the photographic artist is trying to convey.
I seek out unusual shapes or objects that are nice to look at and
may also tell a story or make you laugh.
See "Take a Bow" for a flower with a personality
or "Whispering Clouds" for a beautiful southwestern
scene.
My interest in photography started in grade school when I became
part of the audio-visual team at PS 96 in the Bronx.
I enjoyed setting up equipment for classroom presentations or
movies.
As a teenager I experimented with a Polaroid camera. On a spring
afternoon I photographed a friend jumping off a bridge
(a small bridge). I tried to capture the motion when he did the
free-fall. We had a great time that day in Plainfield, New
Jersey.
I did not start taking photography seriously until a magazine
editor told me that my photos had very good composition
and suggested I pursue this as a career.
In the early 1980's I traded for for my first good camera; a Pentax
about 20 years old at the time.
It helped me understand the inter-relationship between aperture and
shutter settings because it was a fully manual camera.
In 2005 a friend gave me my first digital camera, a Canon Pro 90,
and once I got the hang of it, I was hooked!
See "Take Me To Your Leader"
for a very cool photo
of a praying mantis that was taken with this camera.
